Simonsig Pick of the Bunch Pinotage
A Pinotage with a rich core of ripe red fruit, from the estate that released its first red wine, a Pinotage, back in 1970. Pinotage is South Africa's own grape, and this is a great introduction to it.
Tasting notes
Ripe plum and red fruit with hints of vanilla, gentle oak spice, savoury notes and sour cherry. Medium-bodied and rich, with soft, grainy tannins and a fresh, fruity finish.
Food pairing
A traditional South African braai, Wagyu burgers, ostrich or game steaks, pizza, hearty pasta or a sun-dried tomato stew.
